What is it about?

There exist few humans in this world with the ability to manipulate their souls to form powerful weapons. Dubbed “Blazers,” these people study and train at the prestigious Hagun Academy to become Mage-Knights; among the students is so-called failure Ikki Kurogane, the sole F-rated Blazer. However, when the worst student in the academy sees Stella Vermillion, an A-ranked Blazer who also happens to be a princess, naked, she challenges him to a duel with dire stakes—the loser becomes the slave of the winner. There’s no possible way that Stella can lose, right?

What did I think?

I’m well aware of the fact that I’m reviewing yet another fantasy harem anime. What can I say? I just love them.

I also loved this one. The plot was good, maybe a bit predictable but honestly I don’t care about that. The same goes for the characters: are they original or different? No. But are they funny and likeable? Yeah. And that’s kinda all I care about. The art was good and colorful and the atmosphere suited the anime.

I know I’m not really selling why I loved it, but that’s because it’s just not an anime that stand out between all the other fantasy harem anime. It’s one you will enjoy and you will laugh (just like I did), but I’m afraid I will forget about it in a few weeks. It will disappear somewhere in my mind between all the other good, but not excellent, fantasy harem anime. I enjoyed watching it, will probably watch it again in a few months. But when somebody will ask me what my favorite anime is, this will not be on the list.

The only thing that makes Rakusai kishi no cavalry stand out is the opening. I loved loved loved it. It’s so DRAMATIC. Black and white and blood. Dramatic music that makes you feel like something is coming. After the opening you kinda expect some anime where a lot of people die in a very bloody way (honestly it made me think of Futur Diary). What I didn’t expect was a pinked-haired tsundere princess that is hilariously in love with the guy who is the center of a harem. And yeah I have to be fair, there IS blood in the anime, but it’s not nearly as much as you would expect after seeing the opening.

So if you have some spare time and would like to see a good but not excellent anime I definitely recommend this one. And you won’t regret watching it, but if you don’t watch it, you won’t really miss anything either.
