What is it about?

The world’s greatest assassin had sworn lifelong allegiance to the organization that raised him. However, despite his loyalty, that very same organization takes action to silence him, ultimately leading to his demise. Drowning in frustration and regrets he can no longer suppress, he finds himself in an audience with a goddess attracted by his exceptional skills. The goddess offers him reincarnation into a magnificent world of swords and magic so he can perform a crucial mission: prevent that world’s destruction by slaying its hero.

Accepting the goddess’ request, he is reborn as Lugh Tuatha Dé, the son of a noble family of assassins serving the Alvan Kingdom. Under the guidance of his father, Lugh learns new assassination techniques that significantly differ from the cold-blooded and unsympathetic killing style of his previous life. Furthermore, his other talents bloom, allowing him to meet new allies and acquaintances. Even so, Lugh knows that his efforts are far from adequate, because a monumental adversary such as the hero can only be defeated with perfection.

What did I think?

I must be honest, the first half of the first episode, I was kind of in a constant state of “huh?”. I really had trouble following what was happening and the different scenes didn’t really seem to be part of one coherent story.

I remember thinking to myself: “If I still feel like this by the end of the first episode, I’m out. Enough other anime in the sea to be watching”.

But I’m glad I stuck to it because this anime actually turned out pretty cool.

First, what an amazing, cool intro it has. Really sets the mood for the rest of the anime. I mean, it is an anime about an assassin after all, and somehow the intro managed to give you some secret assassin mission vibes.

The intro also showed you that this is once again a harem anime. One guy, 3 girls in pretty (sexy) outfits. And honestly that made me happy because I do really enjoy some funny harem girls’ interactions. It’s just classic anime humor and I honestly will never not enjoy it.

The story itself was also pretty great. It was fast pasted, suspenseful and the right mix of action vs humor. I actually looked forward to each new episode every week. Plus, I have said this multiple times before, but I really am a sucker for overpowered main characters and Lugh definitely fits the bill.

The interaction between Lugh and the different girls surrounding him was also just so entertaining to watch. I really had to laugh out loud a couple of times.

So in conclusion:

Is this the best, most original anime ever made?
No.

Is this a fun, entertaining anime that is definitely worth a watch?

Absolutely!
